John Mulcahy updated REW macOS DMG (includes private Java 8 JRE) with a new update entry: REW V5.20 RC3 macOS DMG This is the 3rd and, ever optimistically, final V5.20 release candidate. By using Webupd8 Team’s PPA repository, Java 8 can be installed using apt command. But first, the repository needs to be added to your Ubuntu system. Sudo add-apt-repository ppa:webupd8team/java sudo apt update. When the repository is added, install Java 8 by executing the following command in your terminal. Sudo apt install oracle-java8. When it’s time to install a new version of macOS or download a new update, nearly everyone turns to the Mac App Store to start the process. While the App Store makes OS installations easy.

Open terminal (Ctrl+Alt+T) and run the command:

sudo add-apt-repository ppa:webupd8team/java

Type in your password when it asks and hit Enter.

2. Update and install the installer script:

Run commands to update system package index and install Java installer script:

sudo apt update; sudo apt install oracle-java8-installer

You may replace oracle-java8-installer with oracle-java9-installer to install Java 9.
